Exterior painting
Exterior Painting
Exteriors here take salt air, hard sun and freeze-thaw cycles. Coatings here fail from the prep up, so that is where we spend the time.
Prep built for a coastal climate
We wash the building, scrape and sand failing coating back to sound material, treat bare wood, replace failed caulk at joints and penetrations, and prime with the right primer for each substrate. Cedar, stucco, brick, fiber cement, aluminum and vinyl trim all behave differently — a single primer across all of them is why exteriors peel in three years instead of holding for ten.
- Pressure or soft washing and mildew treatment
- Scraping, sanding and feathering failed coatings
- Rot assessment, wood filling and carpentry coordination
- Full re-caulk of joints, trim and penetrations
- Substrate-specific primers and high-build topcoats
Cedar shingle, siding and trim
Shingle-style homes are common throughout the areas we serve, and each one has a different answer: solid stain, semi-transparent stain, or paint. We will tell you honestly which direction gives you the longest service life on your particular exposure, and what a south- or ocean-facing elevation will need sooner than the rest of the house.
Scheduling around the weather
Exterior coatings need surface temperature and dew point to cooperate. We sequence elevations to follow the sun, stop before the dew sets, and will move a day rather than force product onto a wet or too-cold surface. Spring through fall is prime season, and booking early keeps you out of the late-season crush.
Where we have worked
Exterior Painting has been completed across Long Island — Nassau County and Suffolk County, including the Hamptons and the East End — plus New York City and Westchester County.
Questions
Frequently asked
- How often should a house be repainted outside?
- Painted siding commonly holds five to ten years; stained cedar is often shorter on exposed or ocean-facing elevations. Sun exposure, moisture and the quality of the last prep matter more than the calendar.
- Do you do pressure washing?
- Yes — washing is part of exterior prep, and we also handle it as standalone work when a surface only needs cleaning.
- Can you handle rotted wood and trim?
- We assess and address failed wood as part of prep, and coordinate carpentry when a section needs replacement rather than repair.
- Do you paint decks, railings and doors?
- Yes. Decks, railings, front doors, garage doors, shutters and porch ceilings are all regular exterior scope, including staining and sealing.
